Introduction
The Malinovka Festival is a young festival organized by young people for all fans of sports and good cheer. The first edition took place in 2024, and its success and popularity among the residents of Malinovo and the surrounding area motivated the three organizers to repeat the event the following year. The second edition was significantly larger than the first, both in terms of the number of activities, such as a football tournament, basketball tournament, PlayStation zone, goulash and Malinovka stand, etc., and in terms of the number of visitors, which was considerably higher than the previous year.
What did we photograph?
As the festival grows in popularity, social media, primarily Instagram, becomes the main channel of communication between the organizers and the public. That means that it is necessary to create representative images, whether for promotional materials or simply to capture and share the energy of the festival.
So that means that we photographed all kinds of activities, people, food, surroundings… everything that together formed the essence and meaning of the Malinovka festival, i.e. good mood, good company and good game.
How we photographed
Since the offer to photograph at this festival came at the last minute, there wasn’t much time for planning and consultation, which at least tested our ability to improvise.
After arriving at the location and having a brief conversation with the organizing team, we got to work and started taking photos.
The entire process of photographing the festival was very dynamic, both from the perspective of the subjects (footballers and basketball players) and from our perspective, as we had to move quickly between different areas to capture every action.
After a day spent “in the field,” we sat down at our computers and began the process of sorting and editing. This process is usually lengthy and not as dynamic as shooting, but it is just as important, as it can turn a good photo into a perfect one.
Once the photos had been sorted and edited, we uploaded them to the organizers’ cloud, and the job was done.
